IPAF Operator Training course delivers a minimum of 7 hours of instruction and is designed to instruct operators to prepare and safely operate various types of Mobile Elevating Platforms (MEWPS) and to obtain an IPAF Operators licence.
The course is aimed at individuals who are, or who will be, responsible for using Cherry Pickers, Scissors Lifts and/or Static Booms in the workplace.
The course consists of an instructor led presentation, theory assessment and test, practical training, and assessment.
Delegates can choose to complete 1, 2 or 3 categories of IPAF in one day. 8 categories of IPAF can be completed in any one course, i.e. 4 delegates completing 2 categories or 2 delegates completing 3 categories and 1 delegate completing 2 categories, etc.
Category 1B – defined as static booms, which can also be a van mount, vehicle mount, trailer mount, push-around or spider and commonly referred to as a cherry picker. A static boom means once the machine is in place, it does not move location on the ground, but has all the benefits of a mobile boom once the basket is elevated.
Category 3A – defined as a machine that is driveable and once safely in place, allows you to operate it up and down only from its base position, also commonly referred to as a scissor lift. These can be used indoors or outdoors depending upon the machine specification.
Category 3B – defined as a machine that is a driveable, self propelled boom and commonly referred to as a cherry picker, which can be stick or articulated and allows the operator to manoeuvre it from its elevated basket position whilst in use. Very similar to the 1B, but the main difference being it is fully driveable and not static. Can be used indoors or outdoors depending upon machine specification.
With the introduction of ePAL, delegates will be required to download the ePAL app onto their smartphone.
